SURFACE MEETS STRATEGY IN DALLAS FORT WORTH
I spend a lot of time teaching decorative painters how to work with lime… how it behaves, how it ages, how it interacts with light, and how it supports healthier, more breathable interiors. But just as often, I’m answering a different kind of question.
“How do I talk about this work so clients understand its value?”
That question is one of the reasons I’m so excited about Surface Meets Strategy, a three-day, in-person experience we’re hosting in March for working decorative painters and plaster professionals who want to deepen both their craft and their business.
It’s rare to find a space where technique, materials, and marketing are treated as equally important - not in a salesy way, but in a way that respects the real work behind this trade. That’s what this event is designed to be.
Why this experience is different
Surface Meets Strategy was built around how plaster professionals work.
We work in layers.
We wait for materials to set.
We make decisions slowly, visually, and intentionally.
So instead of cramming everything into one long technical day, we created a format that mirrors the rhythm of the craft. You’ll rotate through surface techniques, material exploration, and business insight. This gives your hands and your mind the space to both work and absorb.
The goal is not just to teach you new finishes. It’s to help you integrate those finishes into a business that feels sustainable and aligned with how you want to work.
What I’ll be teaching with Novacolor Italia materials
During my sessions, we’ll be working hands-on with Novacolor Italia products, exploring both the beauty of the materials and the thinking behind them.
We’ll look at when to use lime paint versus washes, when Marmorino is the right choice, and how to build sculptural and textured surfaces that feel modern, relevant, and intentional. We’ll also talk through protection, placement, and how to position lime finishes clearly and confidently with clients and designers.
This isn’t just about how to apply the material. It’s about understanding what makes it special and how to communicate that value in a way that supports your pricing, your positioning, and your long-term growth.
The power of learning alongside peers
One of the most meaningful parts of this event is who you’ll be learning with.
This is designed specifically for working professionals, people who are in the field, running businesses, navigating clients, and trying to balance creativity with practicality. That shared context creates a different kind of learning environment.
You won’t just leave with sample boards. You’ll leave with clarity and connections that continue long after the event ends.
